Jeffrey L. Berger counsels employers, executives, and law firms on resolving employment law and business issues, and represents them in related litigation. He has broad experience and training in traditional labor law, federal and state employment regulations, and evolving employment law litigation issues. His website, www.bergerlaborlaw.com, was recently featured in a Legal Times article on technology and small law firms. His column, TechWorkplace, appeared monthly in TechGazette magazine and he is a contributing columnist to its successor, Washington TechWay.

Jeffrey serves as Employment Law Counsel to the Computing Technology Industry Association and the American Society for Microbiology, and was named to the first panel of mediators for the EEOC’s new private employer mediation program. Jeffrey is a frequent speaker on employment law issues for the High Technology Council of Maryland and recently spoke on post-merger workplace integration at the Association for Corporate Growth National Conference. In September 2000, he was elected to a three-year term on the D.C. Bar Law Practice Management Steering Committee.

Jeffrey’s practice includes litigation for and advice to employers on protecting intellectual property, work force integration, wage and hour (FLSA and Service Contract Act), family and medical leave, discrimination, sexual harassment, affirmative action, union avoidance, NLRA, non-competition and executive employment agreements, OSHA, and preventative policies. He is often brought into matters by corporate counsel and financial advisors requiring specialized employment law expertise.

A growing aspect of his work is in assisting companies in reducing employment law claims and fostering corporate goals through comprehensive personnel management systems, which include in-house seminars. Jeffrey’s clients represent a broad cross-section of the business community including high technology, biotechnology, health care, engineering, media, finance, trade associations, and professional services.

Jeffrey is the author of "Project Partnering: The Road to Enhancing Your Practice,"  which appeared in the 2001 edition of the ABA publication, "Flying Solo." He frequently "partners" with lawyers in small and large firms to provide employment law expertise to their clients and an expanded range of legal expertise and services to his own.

Jeffrey Berger holds a Masters in Labor and Tax Law from Georgetown Law School, a law degree from Rutgers Law School, and a B.A. from SUNY at Buffalo where he was a Regents Scholar. From 1974 to 1979, he served as an enforcement attorney with the U.S. Department of Labor in Washington, D.C. In addition to representing clients, he serves as a mediator for private parties seeking an alternative to litigation. He practices in the Washington, D.C. area and nationally.
